National GIS Day 2022

The Spatial Analytics and Visualization Institute (SAVi) at San Jose State University will celebrate National GIS Day 2022 on November 16, 2022, 5:15p.m.-8:00p.m., with a student poster competition at SJSU Student Union Room 4A.

The student poster competition, co-sponsored by SAVi and Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI), welcomes submissions from SJSU and the broader GIS community in the Bay Area. Posters may focus on using GIS for transportation and environmental applications, including theory and practice of GIS and remote sensing, landscape design and urban planning, economic and mobility spatial analysis, transportation planning and design. 

Schedule

• 5:15p.m.: Event start
• 5:20p.m.: Welcome and opening remarks
• 5:30p.m.: Keynote speaker Chao Liu, "GIS for Transit: Using Geospatial Solutions for VTA Transit Projects"
• 6:00p.m.: Keynote speaker Marshall Ballard, "Speed Dominates Collision Causes in Vision Zero Analysis"
• 6:30p.m.: Voting for public select award posters
• 6:45p.m.: Poster competition award winners announcement
• 7:00p.m.: Poster presentation
• 8:00p.m.: Event ends

2022 SJSU GIS Day Poster Presentation Competition; using Spatial Analytics and Visualization for environmental and transportation applications

Sponsored by San Jose State University Spatial Analytics and Visualization Institute (SAVi) and Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI)

All participant posters will be eligible for presentation at GIS Day on November 16, 2022 at SJSU Student Union Meeting Room 4A. We welcome submissions from SJSU and the broader GIS community in the Bay Area. The participant posters will enter competitions for two award ​categories:

• Poster evaluation from the judging committee:
  • 1st place winner: $300 gift card 
  • 2nd and 3rd place winners: $150 gift card 
  • 4th and 5th place winners: $100 gift card
• Public selection award: 
  • Two winner award: $100 gift card

• 11/16/2022 GIS day keynote speaker, poster presentation, and winners announcement
