Dr. Blampied’s research focuses on the management of projects in transportation agencies. He spent most of his career in the California Department of Transportation, where he was employed in various positions in Los Angeles, Marysville, Sacramento, and Oakland. He retired as Division Chief for Project Management and BATA Support in Oakland (District 4). Dr. Blampied has co-authored several national and international project management standards, including the International Standard for Project Management (ISO21500:2012), the AASHTO Guide for Consultant Contracting, and the Project Management Institute’s Government Extension to the PMBOK® GuideGuide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)Practice Standard for Work Breakdown Structures, and Construction Extension to the PMBOK® Guide. Dr Blampied holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Natal, a B.A. in Geography and Economics from the University of South Africa, an M.A. in Cross-Cultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, and an M.S. and PhD in Engineering and Project Management from the University of California, Berkeley.  He is a registered professional engineer in California and South Africa, as well as a certified Project Management Professional.
