Louis (Lou) Brown is an experienced and dedicated transportation system safety engineer with more than 47 years of government and industry broad-based management and engineering expertise. He has worked in many areas of transportation, including public transit safety, transportation system safety, automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) safety, aviation safety, vehicle safety engineering, regulatory development and analysis, vehicle product compliance and safety defects, full scale and laboratory scale testing, and crash testing.

Mr. Brown currently works for Jacobs Engineering, supporting the implementation of Positive Train Control with Orlando’s SunRail. He is also Chair of APTA’s Safety Coordinating Council.  

Mr. Brown has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and a Masters in Aviation Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in Florida, Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
