Claudia Marin-Artieda, PE, Ph.D., has more than two decades of professional experience as a structural engineer. She is a professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Graduate Student Director of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Howard University in Washington, DC.

Dr. Marin-Artieda has established herself as a leader in multihazard protective systems, computational mechanics, and structural health monitoring, with a particular interest in using artificial intelligence for infrastructure solutions. She is a registered professional engineer in VA, MD, NY, AR, and DC. She had more than seven years as a professional structural engineer before joining Howard University.

Throughout her career, Dr. Marin-Artieda has received numerous accolades for her research and teaching. She is a recipient of the prestigious NSF CAREER Award (2012-2019), and her work has been widely recognized in academic circles. Her research has been funded by major organizations, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the U.S. Department of Transportation. She serves as the interim director of the Research and Education for Promoting Safety (REPS) University Transportation Center (UTC) at Howard University.

She is the founder and advisor of the Engineering Ambassador Program at Howard University, which since 2011 has been engaging undergraduate engineering students as ambassadors in K-12 outreach activities and stimulate the ambassadors' interest in STEM, soft skills, self-efficacy, and academic achievement.
