Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Training Course for Rural and Tribal Communities

Rural and tribal transportation agencies are challenged with vast geographical scopes, limited infrastructure, and few technical resources, which make it hard to plan and maintain Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Existing ITS training focuses mainly on urban contexts and overlooks these realities. This course will close that gap by giving rural and tribal managers practical, accessible tools to plan, fund, and sustain ITS programs in their communities.

In collaboration with the California Local Technical Assistance Program (CALTAP), we propose to create a web-based course titled “Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for Rural and Tribal Communities. The training course will be delivered through a distance learning platform to increase accessibility for remote tribal and rural staff.
