AI-based Environmental Code Checking Tool for Sustainability Best Management Practices of Infrastructure Construction Projects

The objective of this research project is to develop an AI-based environmental code checking tool for the sustainability best management practices of infrastructure construction projects. The PI will utilize machine learning (ML) models suitable to identify sustainability best management practices (BMPs) and ensure code compliance with environmental regulations for California infrastructure construction projects. Implementing sustainability BMPs will help minimize environmental impacts, ensure workers' safety, and optimize project efficiency. This research project focuses on environmental regulatory compliance using sustainability rating systems to enhance the overall environmental performance of infrastructure construction projects. The developed AI-based environmental code checking tool will help stakeholders and policymakers promote sustainable and responsible construction, reduce negative impacts on the environment proactively, and enhance overall project performance.
