MTI organizes or participates in several transportation-related events each year. These include national summits, regional forums, industry conferences, or special events and broadcasts. You can find leading transportation experts at all of these events, making them an excellent resource not only for professional and research insights, but also for networking. You can review our past events.

The Mineta Transportation Institute is deeply involved with many surface transportation issues. Our experts are available to speak with the news media about many topics, including autonomous vehicles, bicycle and pedestrian safety, congestion, high-speed rail, intermodal connectivity, public transit, transportation planning and policy, transportation security, and workforce issues.

April 3, 2024 to April 4, 2024 ACT West Coast Regional TDM Summit  -  Genentech, 1 DNA Way, South San Francisco, CA 94080

In April, ACT’s Northern California Chapter will welcome attendees to South San Francisco for 1.5 days of panels, interactive discussions, networking, and tours. Hosted at Genentech’s South San Francisco campus, this event will highlight TDM strategies in action at a leading employer. Attendees will receive an inside look at TDM programs and initiatives in the region and learn how they’ve evolved to meet commuter needs. The summit is positioned to draw TDM leaders and innovators representing programs from the Bay area and beyond.

This summit is ACT's inaugural Spring into TDM event, a series of chapter-led regional events which will occur during the spring of each year.

September 9, 2024 to September 11, 2024 7th International Conference on Women and Gender in Transportation (WGiT)  -  Irvine, CA

Convened by TRB, the 7th International Conference on Women and Gender in Transportation (WGiT) will be held September 9-11, 2024 at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, CA. The conference theme is Progress and Possibilities: Bridging Perspectives. It highlights how far recognition of gendered issues in transport have come, while also noting the important work ahead to bridge inequities. This will work require spanning disciplines, departments, scales, and organizations.

The Call for Abstracts - Presentations, Panel Sessions, and Non-traditional Submissions closes February 21, 2024.

Join us in sharing research and practical applications that highlight how gender considerations can be incorporated into the traditionally male dominated transport sector, a sector that is a contributor to economic growth, broadens access to health, education services, and employment, and more. The conference theme—Progress and Possibilities: Bridging Perspectives—highlights how far recognition of gendered issues in transport have come, while also noting the important work ahead to bridge inequities, work that will require spanning disciplines, departments, scales, and organizations. We are seeking individual presentations as well as pre-organized panels of three or four presentations on a particular theme, workshops, and roundtables. Abstracts may present original research, practical experiences, case studies, and/or solutions to policy concerns. We will accept presentations of work that has been published recently or is currently under consideration for publication. We are looking for presentations related to any mode or modes and infrastructure: aviation, roadways, active transportation, airports, transit, freight, rail, water, and space. We welcome submissions from countries of all levels of income.

The committee hopes to organize a Women and Gender in Transport Special Collection for publication in Transportation Research Record: The Journal of the Transportation Research Board following the conference. Stay tuned for more details.
