These include national summits, regional forums, industry conferences, or special events and broadcasts. Each year, the Mineta Transportation Institute presents a conference addressing the challenges and opportunities regarding where to find the money to fund mobility. This year, Senator Jim Beall keynotes and Asha Agrawal, PhD, presents her latest research on transportation fees and taxes.

MTI Awards Banquet and Convocation Exercises

Graduates of MTI´s Master of Science in Transportation Management will receive their hoods at a banquet attended by families and friends as well as national and international transportation leaders. An award will be given to the winning team in the Garrett Morgan Sustainable Transportation Competition, and the MSTM Alumni Association will honor its Alumnus or Alumna of the Year. Automated Vehicles Symposium

July 20-24, 2015 • Ann Arbor MI


The Mineta Transportation Institute will co-sponsor a workshop at the Automated Vehicles Symposium in Ann Arbor, Michigan from July 20-24 at the Ann Arbor Marriott. This is a multi-disciplinary forum to advance the deployment of driverless vehicles, such as the Google car. The day-long workshop on July 24, “Envisioning Automated Vehicles within the Built Environment: 2020, 2035, and 2050," will include design discussions for transportation professionals. Mobility regulators, technologists, innovators, architects, planners, engineers, and environmental professionals are expected to participate. MTI research associate Caroline Rodier, PhD, will discuss the potential land use and travel effects of automated vehicles. Much of the agenda is focused on design workshops for the built environment. Podcar City: San Jose

November 2-4, 2015 • San Jose CA


This annual event moves back to San Jose, Calif. More than 125 experts in surface transportation and transit are expected to participate. They will discuss the future of podcars, also known as “personal rapid transit” or “automated guideway vehicles.” MTI will co-sponsor.
