The Mineta Transportation Institute organizes or participates in several transportation-related events each year. These include national summits, regional forums, industry conferences, or special events and broadcasts. You can find leading transportation experts at all of these events, making them an excellent resource not only for professional and research insights, but also for networking.

2016 CUTC Summer Meeting

June 6-9, 2016 • Los Angeles CA


As a leading member of the Council of University Transportation Centers, MTI will participate in the organization’s summer meeting at the METRANS Transportation Center. The meeting will include strategy sessions, workshops, committee discussions, and other business relevant to the members’ transportation research activities. MTI Executive Director Karen Philbrick serves on the Executive Board.

International Conference on Transport & Health

June 13-15, 2016 • San Jose CA


The Mineta Transportation Institute will be hosting this second annual conference that will address the convergence of transportation and health. The conference promotes the concept of cross-disciplinary teams of professionals in the design, planning, and development of proposed and rehabilitated transportation infrastructure projects. Abstracts are accepted from October 31, 2015 through January 17, 2016.

Is it true, as Congress says, that Americans won’t pay more taxes and fees for mobility? What exactly are the funding challenges and how are transportation leaders addressing them? This free, half-day summit hosted by MTI at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco presents results from year seven of a national public opinion poll of more than 1,500 Americans on various tax options for raising federal transportation revenues. Special attention will be given to understanding opinions on increasing revenues for public transit. Keynote address by California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) Secretary Brian Kelly. MNTRC Board of Trustees Meeting

The Mineta National Transit Research Consortium, led by the Mineta Transportation Institute, will hold its summer board meeting in San Jose CA. Chair Nuria Fernandez, CEO of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, will preside.

MTI Awards Banquet and Convocation Exercises

Graduates of MTI´s Master of Science in Transportation Management will receive their hoods at a banquet attended by families and friends as well as national and international transportation leaders. An award will be given to the winning team in the 2016 Garrett Morgan Sustainable Transportation Competition, and the 2016 MSTM Alumna/us of the Year will be named.
