The Mineta Transportation Institute organizes or participates in several transportation-related events each year. These include national summits, regional forums, industry conferences, or special events and broadcasts. You can find leading transportation experts at all of these events, making them an excellent resource not only for professional and research insights, but also for networking.

CUTC Summer Meeting

As a leading member of the Council of University Transportation Centers, MTI will participate in the organization’s summer meeting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The meeting will include strategy sessions, workshops, committee discussions, and other business relevant to the members’ transportation research activities.

Norman Y. Mineta Transportation Policy Summit on Transportation Finance

This annual summit will continue and update discussion regarding innovative ways to fund the nation’s transportation infrastructure. Research results will be given from an annual survey of Americans about transportation taxes and fees.        v

MNTRC Board of Trustees Meeting

The Mineta National Transit Research Consortium, led by the Mineta Transportation Institute, will hold its summer board meeting in San Jose CA. Chair Steve Heminger, Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay area’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission, will preside. Incoming Chair Stephanie Pinson, President of Gilbert Tweed, will be installed.

MTI Awards Banquet and Convocation Exercises

Graduates of MTI´s Master of Science in Transportation Management will receive their hoods at a banquet attended by families and friends as well as national and international transportation leaders. An award will be given to the winning team in the Garrett Morgan Sustainable Transportation Competition. MTI Alumnus of the Year also will be named.

TRB Conference on Surface Transportation Financing

July 9-11, 2014 • Irvine CA


The Mineta Transportation Institute is co-sponsoring and presenting at this conference. Discussion will focus on the latest research and practice in transportation finance, with an emphasis on innovative ideas from around the world. The goal is to share new ideas and practices to facilitate improved financing of transportation projects in anticipation of the extension of Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) or new federal surface transportation legislation.

APTA Annual Meeting and Expo

Smart Rail Congress & Expo

For the third year, the Mineta Transportation Institute is co-sponsoring and presenting at this Global Transport Forum. The high-level congress finds solutions to strategic “big picture” issues facing senior-level transit professionals. It also provides an interactive learning environment where they can share their vision for next generation systems and best practices.
