National Transportation Finance Center

In recognition of the critical role that transportation finance plays in transportation policy-making, the Mineta Transportation Institute recently established MTI’s National Transportation Finance Center (NTFC). The NTFC will fund research in cutting-edge practices in surface transportation finance and disseminate the results widely to aid policy makers. In addition, the NTFC will help interested parties understand transportation finance issues.

Within the large arena of finance, the NTFC will emphasize research into “smart” finance options – revenue and finance tools that not only raise needed transportation revenues but also promote social goals such as environmentally sustainable transportation systems, congestion management, and social equity.

MTI is releasing the first Request for Finance Proposals as an initial step in the growth of the center. Proposals are due on Monday, May 25, and must be submitted on the Proposal Submittal Form and Proposal Budget Form posted below.
