Admissions Criteria
Candidates for the Master of Science in Transportation Management (MSTM) program must apply for formal admission to San Jose State University (SJSU) and have an undergraduate degree in a related field from an accredited institution. Admission to SJSU requires the prospective candidate to have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5. Admission into the MSTM program requires a target GPA of 3.0 and a target Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score of 500 (based on scores from both verbal and analytical sections of the GMAT exam). However, admission is evaluated on an individual basis. Please contact the Education Director if you are not sure you meet these qualifications.
Admission to the Graduate Certificate programs, Certificate in Transportation (CTM), Graduate Certificate in Transportation Security (CTSM) or the Graduate Certificate in High Speed Rail Management (CHSRM) requires an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (any major). The GMAT is not required but a GPA of 2.5 is required for admission to any three of the Graduate Certificate programs listed above.
TOEFL Requirement for the MSTM and CTM/CTSM or CHSRM programs
Graduate applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose preparatory education was principally in a language other than English, must demonstrate competence in English. Those who do not possess a Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree from a post-secondary institution where English is the principal language of instruction must receive a minimum of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Please contact SJSU Testing & Evaluation at 408-924-5980 for test information.
