Interim Director of the MS Transportation Management program

David Czerwinski is Interim Director of the MS Transportation Management program for academic year 2023-2024. He is also a Professor of Business Analytics and Interim Associate Dean of Graduate Programs in the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business. Dr. Czerwinski’s research involves the application of techniques from operations research and statistics to problems in the private and public sectors, with a particular focus on transportation and healthcare. He teaches business analytics classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels and was the inaugural recipient of the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business’s Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award.

Dr. Czerwinski’s transportation career began as a transit research analyst with the Chicago Transit Authority. He later worked as a Senior Associate at Transportation Management & Design in Carlsbad, CA. Dr. Czerwinski is a Research Associate with the Mineta Transportation Institute where he has contributed to research reports on bicycle safety, the transit bus manufacturing industry, public-private partnerships, and last-mile connectivity.

Dr. Czerwinski is active in the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS). He serves co-chair of the INFORMS Undergraduate Scholarship Committee, is the faculty advisor for the student publication OR/MS Tomorrow, and is an Associate Editor for INFORMS Transactions on Education. Dr. Czerwinski holds a PhD in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS with distinction in Mathematical and Computational Science from Stanford University.
