Educating mobility managers, urban planners, environmental engineers, and other current and future professionals is a central element of the Mineta National Transit Research Consortium. Each partner offers its own educational programs in a variety of study areas.
Workforce development is another important educational facet. The MNTRC partners approach this important issue primarily with K-12 programs that inspire young people to begin thinking about the many careers available in transportation. They especially are encouraged to excel in the STEM classes – science, technology, engineering, and math – and to take those classes in college.
Professional workforce development is addressed by way of summits that bring together transportation leaders and propose policy and legislation.
