Survey on Travel Preferences and Cycling in Silicon Valley

For many reasons, jurisdictions are interested in increasing the use of cycling for transportation, including locally in Silicon Valley. This study explores opportunities and barriers to additional cycling among individual travelers through a survey of Santa Clara County residents. The survey asks respondents about the trips they take, what they think about when they decide how to travel, and their thoughts on all modes of transportation, but with particular emphasis on cycling. Polling firm Change Research has been contracted to administer the survey. Data gathered from the survey can hopefully inform policy and advocacy from local stakeholders interested in increasing cycling and sponsoring the survey including the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and County Department of Public Health.
