Green Up: Pavement Rehabilitation Decision Tool

The goal of this project is to develop a pavement rehabilitation strategy selection tool that will allow designers to explore and compare various strategies in terms of life, cost, and overall environmental impact. The tool will include a strong educational component providing information about “green” pavement rehabilitation strategies and links to relevant academic, public, and industry web sites. The main criteria of comparison between different strategies are: responsible use of materials (minimizing waste and increasing recycling and reusing), reducing global warming potential (in terms of carbon footprint as documented by relevant Environmental Product Declarations), and other key properties such as life cycle cost, permeable surface, quiet surface (noise), and cool surface (heat island effect).
