Denise Patrick, PhD

Dr. Patrick is a seasoned transportation professional with more than 30 years of experience in public transportation, working on accident investigation, transportation regulatory compliance, private livery service, airport operations, and flight operations.  She retired in 2019 as Safety Manager for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and currently consults in transportation safety, education, and research.  She is also serving as Transportation Section Chief for the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of InfraGard, a collaborative effort between the private sector and the FBI.

Following her passion for training, in 2020 Dr. Patrick earned a PhD in Education from Northcentral University, specializing in Global Training and Development. She is also a proud alum of the SJSU/MTI program in transportation management, graduating in 2009 with both a Master of Science Degree in Transportation Management and a Graduate Certificate in Transportation Security Management.  

Dr. Patrick’s professional certifications include World Safety Organization (WSO) – Certified Safety & Security Director (CSSD); Federal Transit Administration - Transit Safety & Security Program (TSSP, bus & rail); Cal OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Safety & Health; Cal OES - California Certified Emergency Management Specialist; and FEMA Emergency Management Professionals Program – Basic Academy Instructor.
