Work Background:
Over the past five years, Mr. Bernick has focused his research work on
land use at America's rail transit stations, and particularly on the
development of "transit villages". He has been the lead
principal investigator on several studies for the California Air Resources
Board, Federal Transit Administration, California State Senate, and
California Policy Seminar. He has also been a co-principal investigator
with Professor Robert Cervero of UC Berkeley on studies for the California
Department of Transportation. Professor Cervero and Mr. Bernick are
Co-Directors of the UC Berkeley National Transit Access Center. They are
co-authors of a book, Transit Villages of Tomorrow, and several recent
working papers. Note: Mr. Bernick is also an elected member of the Board
of Directors of BART.
