The
College of Business at San José State University,
with support from the Mineta Transportation Institute,
offers both a
The Masters of Science in Transportation Management
(MSTM) is a fully accredited Masters program
consisting of 30 units, taking a little over two years
to graduate. The 30 units comprise completion of six
required courses, three electives and the culminating
experience of the Capstone Course, MTM 290.
Descriptions of each course can be found by clicking
the Course Descriptions on the menu to the left, as
well as Course Schedules and Course Registration.

information on the enrollment process.
The Certificate in Transportation Management (CTM)
is a 12 unit program comprised of two options.
Students may take any four required courses listed
from the six in the MSTM program, or students can also
chose to take three required courses and one elective.
The CTM program is geared for students who may not be
ready to pursue the full master's program, but who are
still committed to furthering their transportation
careers. Students who later decide to pursue the
Masters degree may transfer up to six units of their
CTM program toward fulfillment of the MSTM

New Transportation Security Certificate Program |
Beginning the Fall 2006 semester, MTI will offer a four-course
Certificate in Transportation Security
The certificate consists of two required courses -- Emergency Management for Transportation Professionals and Security Issues for Transportation Professionals -- along with two core courses from the current graduate-level transportation management curriculum. Students may apply
six credits earned from the certificate program towards MTI’s 30-unit Master of Science in Transportation Management. The emergency management course will be taught by MTI Research Associate Dr. Frances L. Edwards, a renowned disaster response expert, and Dan Goodrich, a specialist in planning, training, and exercises for Weapons of Mass Destruction, will teach the security class.
