San José State University, and the Mineta Transportation Institute officially welcomed the second class of the Summer Transportation Institute (STI) on June 30, 2003.  The Program Coordinator is Maribel Alvarez, and the Academic Director is Penny Donovan. The assistant teacher is Martha Sanchez. 

This year the institute is giving the opportunity for 18 high school students from Santa Clara County, and San Benito County to explore transportation careers in public policy, engineering, project management, planning, and many other areas for four weeks this summer.
