INRETS - Institut National de Recherche sur les transports et leur sécurité (France) - (French and English) The INRETS is a state-financed scientific and technological body under the dual administrative supervision of the Ministry of Research and the Ministry of Transport. Its tasks include: (1)To organize, execute and assess technological research and development concerned with the improvement of the means and systems of transport and of traffic from technical, economic and social viewpoints.(2)To carry out evaluative and advisory studies within these domains. (3) To promote the results of these research and study programme, to contribute to the dissemination of scientific knowledge, and participate in training by and for transport research both in France and abroad. SNFC (France) - (English and French) The SNFC is a French state institution charged with industrial and commercial tasks. This site contains transit information (trains, TGV, motorail, bicycles), freight information, and rail pictures. Research activity information is currently only available in French.

Subway Navigator (France) - (English & French) Subway Navigator allows you to find routes in subway systems in various cities around the world. Information is provided by countries and cities. You will find maps, a list of stations, the estimated time for your route, and other information.

Dutch Traffic Sign Server - (English and Dutch) This site includes interpretations of traffic signs in the Netherlands, in both English and Dutch.

Netherlands Research School for Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics (TRAIL) - TRAIL - located at the Delft University of Technology - provides postgraduate education in transportation, infrastructure, and logistics, and carries out scientific research commissioned by government and industry. This site includes information about the organization, its research (directed at upgrading the movement of people and goods by all forms of transport), education, and contact information.

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) - (English, Spanish, and Catalan) TMB - the transit agency for Barcelona, Spain - is composed of two companies, Ferrocarril Metropolità de Barcelona and Transports de Barcelona. Swedish Road and Transport Research Institute, VTI - The Swedish Road and Transport Institute conducts research in the areas of roads and road transport (transportation engineering, highway engineering, and vehicle and road users), rail transport, and transport systems. Institute of Transportation, Highway, and Railway-Engineering (Switzerland) - (English and German) The Institute, a division of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, is divided into three groups: individual traffic, public transport, and rural and environmental planning. The site contains detailed information about the research activities of the group. Also included at the site is information about publications and teaching activities, which is currently available only in German.

Aston University Department of Civil Engineering (U.K.) - Aston University's Civil Engineering Dept. offers a transportation management program and conducts research in the applications of virtual reality to transportation management, planning, light rail transit, and motorway development. This site includes information about educational programs, research, publications, and conferences.

BritRail - This site includes rail maps and information about passes and tickets for travel in Great Britain. Price information is available in pounds sterling and U.S. dollars.

Brit Valley Railway - The Brit Valley Railway is a proposed 2-foot narrow-gauge railway, principally steam hauled, between Bridport and West Bay on the West Dorset Coast.
