General Scholarship Information
Don't delay your search for financial aid! Many applications are due by March 1 or earlier. Most scholarships are restricted to matriculated students in an accredited degree program. This means that students enrolled in our Graduate Certificate program are not eligible for aid in most cases.

http://www.fastweb.com/ You may search the database for free. Not only does the service provide contact information about several grants and other funding sources, but it also provides a generic letter for you to request more information.

Other Scholarship Information
San Jose State University:
More than 100 general scholarships given and about 1,000 departmental scholarships are available. In addition to awards given by the school, many private companies and alumni want to help students succeed regardless of academic achievement. Some are merit based, some are need based, and others are specific and marketed to a small population of students. The deadline for general scholarships is early March, but department scholarships may vary.
The first step is to apply for the Federal Application for Students Aid (FAFSA). The sooner you apply, the better the chance of receiving a grant. For information or to apply, go to http://scholarships.sjsu.edu

American Public Transportation Foundation:
The Mineta Transportation Institute is a member of the American Public Transportation Association. Our students are eligible to participate in the Annual Transit Hall of Fame Scholarship Award Program. The objective of the program is to increase and retain the number of professionals entering the transit field in order to sustain growth and improvement throughout the industry.
The program combines two basic elements. First, subject to the availability of funding, the APTF will award a minimum of six new scholarships of at least $2,500 each for the following academic school year (fall semester) to individuals in public transportation industry-related fields of study. Second, the participant must be an active employee or participant in an internship program or supplemental education program sponsored by an APTA member organization or an APTA member assignee.
Generally, applications are submitted in June. Scholarships awards will be announced at the APTA Annual Meeting & Expo in September. Locations vary. If you are interested, please contact Viviann Ferea at the Mineta Transportation Institute, ferea@mti.sjsu.edu.
Eno Fellows
The Fellows program builds professional development and leadership qualities among the most promising graduate students considering careers in transportation. Each year's class of Eno Fellows recipients begins by attending a study conference in Washington DC. Using transportation policy formulation as a common point of interest, this conference provides a forum for the Fellows to interact, network and to gain real-world perspectives. During the intensive five-day conference, Eno Fellows meet with the nation's top transportation policy makers and leaders.
For selection of Fellowship candidates and nomination process, please contact Viviann Ferea at the Mineta Transportation Institute, ferea@mti.sjsu.edu.
Graduate Equity Fellowship:

Awards of up to $3,000 may be made to graduate students enrolled at SJSU. Students must be enrolled in both academic terms and complete a minimum of six units in each. These 12 units must appear on the Master´s candidacy form for award of degree. Course work used to complete program pre-requisites will not fulfill this enrollment requirement.
Eligibility must be met. Applications are available at the Graduate Studies counter in the Student Services Center, or contact Graduate Studies and Research at 408-924-2480. Deadline is usually early June.
